Attached Thumbnails. Sorry for sounding a bit harsh but if people can't figure out how to navigate around their Avid Account well… - running pro tools is far more complex. You are being harsh. Not everyone's Avid Account looks like that. As has been mentioned, Avid is all over the place currently in terms of database and customer back end system. It is probably the result of implementing systems for the support plans. Attached is what mine looks like.
I find PTs much easier to navigate than Avid's goofy website. So it's not hard to see why somebody could have a hard time finding something. Not helpful. It's also what permeates the discours around companies like Avid - though they're not alone. The "it works for me, it should work for everyone".
And it starts within those companies. It's clear, you understand it, and it makes sense to you. Fine, but that's not the case for all of us. Perhaps I'm some kind of computer or web idiot - I'm happy to conceded that that could be the case.
But, for example, can you point me to the information on the Avid site that states: "Your System ID will be issued when you purchase a support plan".
You've made the connection - many wouldn't and haven't, because I know I'm not alone. But more to the point, none of this information is clearly spelt out. It's not even clear whether or not I've actually purchased a Support Plan, because I was under the impression that I had. Once again, more fool me, but equally once again, it's just not clear.
So yes, this could be down to me. But you're not conceding that it could also be down to Avid. Here's an example of their current state of disarray: I managed to work out where and how to find my Pro Tools 12 upgrade - which is already one-up on a number of users.
Which I then proceeded to download and install. This was a month ago. So why the email?? It's a mess, and if you've been spared the consequences, you've done well. If you don't have a support plan there is no system ID. You don't get a support plan with new HD licenses you have to buy the support plan separate. Once you buy the support plant you will get a system ID…. So why didn't you say that in the first place rather than intentionally being condescending?
The OP isn't the only one having trouble. Arguing with Avid fans is a waste of time. Do what you want to do. Last edited by davelang68; 11th May at AM.. I guess it's an important for PT users. Re: System ID not showing on my avid account. Is this an MC upgrade or a Pro Tools upgrade? If not create a case with the support portal or email me directly Marianna.
